Guitar Show

The advanced guitar class performed songs from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and other great 70's bands. The concert was one of the biggest productions the school has seen. All that were involved did an outstanding job recreating the sound from the 70's. They performed with drummers and a singer to realistically perform the hits. The concert was held on Thursday, May 31st and the proceeds were given to Habitat for Humanity. There are DVD's of the show available for purchase from Mr. Newborn.

Spring Sports

It's been a great year for the GBHS spring sports teams. All the teams worked hard to achieve results and it has paid off.
Swimming's Varsity Girls and Boys both were 6-0 and undefeated league champions. 5 boys (Derek Roth, David Wetzel, Kyle Anderson, Spencer Hamby, Brandon Maryatt) and 4 girls (Alyssa Anderson, Haley Anderson, Shannon Adkins, Alyssa Conner) made All-American.
Boys' Golf went 11-3 and placed 2nd in league. Eric McIntosh qualified for the Masters Section Match and Peter Gibbs was named first team All League.
Mens' Volleyball continued their undefeated streak in Nor Cal for the 4th year in a row. They went 31-3 and were 1st in the league. Although they were unable to play sections to prove their dominance, they were still ranked 5th in California.
Track and Field Boys and Girls were SFL Champions. The Boys' made it to 3rd place in the Division 2 Section Meet while the Girls' came in 5th. The State Meet Qualifiers have yet to take place so you can still come see them on June 1st & 2nd. Caitlin Clark will be competing in the Mile and Aaron Burney will be competing in the 110HH.
Boys' Tennis went undefeated with a record of 17-0 winning all the categories in Conference. The champion for Singles was Nick Myers (Also the MVP of the Conference), the champion for Doubles was Julian Maggio and Chase Bergquist. The whole Tennis team deserves an applause though because they all did well in matches and greatly contributed to the team.

Midsummer Night

" A Midsummer' s Night Dream," a Shakespearean play performed by our own GBHS students, is a hilarious comedy about four lovers. It was performed 6 times October 26th through November 4th, and attracted a large crowd of students and adults alike. This well performed play is a story of magic, fairies, and a love triangle. Hopefully you didn' t miss out on the best play from the Fall term.

Homecoming

Every year for a full week GBHS has its annual Homecoming; a week in which every student looks forward to. The festivities started with Spirit Week that lasted all week. The Spirit Days consisted of wearing a different class color each day ending with Grizzly Green Day. During the Thursday before Homecoming night the Bonfire Rally occurred and it was an awesome event that was enjoyed by all students who went. On the following day homecoming royalties were announced! Congratulations to Tyler Jaynes '06 and Katie Oddo '06 on receiving the honor of being crowned homecoming king and queen! After the homecoming rally, the dance had a huge turnout. The football game was amazing with huge plays for the Grizzlies. We beat the Merrill West Wolfpack 31-17. Way to go Grizzlies!

Club Day

On Friday September 17, GBHS had its annual Club Day! There are many clubs that students can choose from such as: Future Business Leaders of America, the Paintball Club, the Drama Club, the Lacrosse Club and the Autism Awareness Club. Club Day had a great turnout and many students got involved with one, two or sometimes even three clubs! These clubs allow students to get involved with the school and the community, along with adding extracurricular activities for college applications.
