Sophmore Alex Kasner and Senior Angela Carter were named Speakers of the Tournament after the Oakridge Tournament. Alex Kasner has been on the Speech and Debate Team for the past two years, and has competed in a myriad of competitive events. He is not only an articulate speaker, but also manages his extra-curriculum activities quite well. Alex was undefeated in Public Forum with his brilliant partner, Skylar Brooks, and he got 2nd place in Original Advocacy, just a few points behind the 1st place speaker. Angela Carter is an intelligent young lady who as a first year debater had managed to be very successful. She earned 1st place in International Extemperanous beating several rookies in the process. She went undefeated in Lincoln Douglas Debate as well. Congratulations to both speakers!

It is Dylan Balbi's first year in Competitive Forensics, but his talent supercedes that of many varsity speakers. He was named the Speaker of the Tournament not only after the tournament at Nevada Union, but also at Hiram Johnson. Dylan got 2nd place in Expository at Hiram Johnson, and managed to be undefeated in Lincoln Douglas Debate, as well as get 2nd place in National Extemperanous. His quiet demeanor and witty sense of humor has provided him many victories during competitions, as well as in the classroom. His fellow team members can't wait for him to perform, and enjoy listening about his "Speech parties" in the garage. If Nick Hurley and Dylan Balbi are together, there is never a dull moment in the classroom! Congratulations Dylan, on a great job done!

Granite Bay always triumphs in tournaments, and yet there are always some students who go above and beyond the expectations. Team managers, Sana Naeem, Jack Allen, and Jordan Fidler announce a Speaker of the Tournament after every Speech and Debate competetion. In the first preliminary tournament at Ponderosa High, Andy Herman and Marshal Downey did exemplary in Novice Parlimentary Debate and got 1st place after 3 riveting rounds. This dynamic duo is composed of a sophmore and a senior, who complement each other quite well. Their logical argumentation and great speaking style have won them several ballots throughout the course of the season, and they are looking forward to dominating debate in the varsity field. Their mantra is "We Crush," and it is the real key to their success.

Novice Team Captain Jordan Fidler has named RYAN CHANG as the April/May speaker of the tournament! During a team dinner at LAX following the CSU, Northridge State Speech/Debate Championships, Fidler rose to speak well of Ryan's amazing accomplishments and character. The 17 year-old junior is in his first year of debate, qualifying for state and then competing successfully for 5 rounds of hard-hitting debate before being eliminated. Only 32 debaters remained at that level! Congratulations to Ryan for his tenacity and fun-loving team play! Much luck in the 2005-06 season.
